The Corrs At Wembley - Review

What can be said about the Wembley Corrs gig shown
on Sky One apart from the fact that it left me completely breathless!
I used the Andrea-Cam to view two hours that made
up the best Television programme of the year. As I can't remember
the actual order, I will review the set list album by album.
The Forgiven Not Forgotten tracks played were seen
as old favourites by the pilgrims at Wembley. Forgiven Not
Forgotten was dramatic and emotive while The Right Time brought
huge cheers and captured the emotions of the people. Toss The Feathers
ended the show in a very unique Corrs way which rocked the stadium
and the millions at home.
What Can I Do, Dreams, So Young, I Never Loved You
Anyway, Runaway, and Only When I Sleep all illustrated why Talk
On Corners was the Corrs UK breakthrough album. They were
all crowd favourites which were familiar and cosy enough to warm
any one's heart. Only When I Sleep opened the show and set
the very high standard. Runaway united the audience while
Queen Of Hollywood showed Andrea's stage skills off well to the
backdrop of the emotive words. The new rockier Paddy McCarthy was
sublime and all the songs were sung as well as the CD.
The Unplugged cover of Old Town really showed how
the Corrs can control the audience. The immense cheering before
and after the "Ola" illustrated the respect this song
is given as it is the track that is guaranteed to make you smile!
The In Blue tracks were outstanding. Once
they were stripped to the clear melody, all the tracks seemed to
have an extra appeal to them. Breathless was fantastic and
really illustrated that the song can work live. Give Me A
Reason was twice as good as the excellent CD version as the lyrics
and the instruments really came to the foreground. It is an
excellent choice for the next single. Somebody For Someone
was emotional and beautifully sung while all three sisters excelled
themselves when it came to All The Love In The World.
Radio was the electronic dance version but it regained
the charm of the Unplugged original and also brought out the charm
of the song. Irresistible lived up to its name and its function
as a stadium anthem. All In A Day really benefited from the
live environment. It became emotional, dramatic and CORRect.
Andrea was eager to sing At Your Side and it is no surprise why.
It filled Wembley with a feel good factor and made the atmosphere
almost spiritual. No More Cry was heartfelt emotive rock at
its finest and it caught the audience's heart. Andrea excelled
at Hurt Before making it a very emotive classic which could not
fail to effect anyone.
The entire gig was intimate, comfortable and appealing.
The cover of John Lennon's Merry Christmas (War Is Over) is perhaps
the epitome of this as the Corrs' charms made the Christmas classic
their own. Sky One managed to keep it all together well and
the introduction by Kate Thornton was impressive as she now clearly
knows her subject. It was without a doubt the best televised
gig I have ever seen. The emotive spiritual atmosphere transferred
well to television and made the concert absolutely incredible..
